Catherine's DESIGNER KNITWEAR
Sock Knitter Bunny
Material:
l ball of winter white worsted weight yarn
10" pink yarn or embroidery floss
2 black buttons - 1/2"
blusher
stuffing
Finished size of Bunny : 7"

Beginning at the lower edge of body: Cast on all 36 pegs and work 3 inches. (Slip ruler inside knitting and measure from the lower edge to pegs.) Skip first peg, lift loop and place it on next peg to the left. Lift lower loop over upper loop. Repeat from * to * around knitter.

Head: Working on 18 pegs, bringing yarn behind empty pegs, knit for 3 more inches. Snip yarn end, leaving a tail of 12". Thread darning needle. Take it through all loops lifting them off pegs around the knitter. Gather & and sew in yarn end. Stuff head and body, then gather lower edge and sew in yarn end. Cut a 20" length of yarn and wrap it around the neck (where you changed from 36 to 18 pegs) several times. Tie a knot at the back of the neck. Do not cut yarn end.

Ears: The ears are worked on every third peg of the knitter. Place a slip knot on the red peg and skip next 2 pegs taking the yarn behind them. Wrap an 'e' of yarn around the next peg.* Repeat from * to *. Knitting on just these 12 pegs, work 6". Cut the yarn, gather stitches and sew edges shut. Hide yarn ends. Using yarn tail at the top of the head, attach ears by fold the ear section in half and stitching into place.

Eyes: Thread yarn ends from the back of the Bunny's through the head, bringing them out at the mid line of the face. Sew button eyes in place.

Mouth & Nose: With pink yarn stitch an 'X' for the nose and mouth.

Arms: Working on 12 pegs knit 8" for the arms. Gather each end and sew shut. Put a marshmallow-sized piece of stuffing inside both closed ends. Stitch the flat part to the Bunny back and sides. Stitch paws into place.

Legs & Tail: Using 12 pegs, work 9". Make feet same as arms. At the centre of the leg/tail tube, place a piece of stuffing ½ the size of a marshmallow for the tail. Cut a 12" length of yarn and wrap it around the tail several times to shape it and lock it in place. Sew in place. Rub a little blusher in ears and on the tip of nose.
